The Quest for the Perfect Denim Shorts

comments 9

Dear B,

I am in a crisis. Yes, I decided to skip all formalities that letter writing contains, to instead direct the focus to my crisis. But, don’t be afraid, I am confident that I am not the only one who suffers from this crisis.

Today is the 20th of September, which means it has officially been 20 days since the start of spring.  Why, this may paint pictures of flowers blossoming, the sun shining (to my beloved city Sydney, please note that in spring, the sun should be shining), and of course a fairly complete summer wardrobe.

However, this is far from the case. In my opinion a summer wardrobe is far from complete without a pair of denim shorts.

Ah, the denim shorts, so humble yet so vital in a wardrobe. I tend to every year after a long search; abandon any hopes of finding a pair of denim shorts. Yet, after seeing photos of NYFW with Alex Chung’s ultra-perfect pair of denim shorts, I knew that this was my season to find my perfect pair.

Tan-tastic: Alexa Chung took a leisurely stroll through Manhattan this morning, showing off her sun-kissed legs

I began with creating a criterion for these shorts, they had to be;

  • Denim
  • Not looking like a bear had attacked the shorts before I bought them.
  • My bum couldn’t be seen

Easy, you would think.

I wish.

I began humbly looking around my local stores, found a pair that ticked all three boxes, however, when I saw the price tag, I knew I had to add a fourth criterion.

  • Under $100

My quest began online. And it was hard-hitting, if it wasn’t attacked by bears, it wasn’t denim. If it was denim, you could see my bum. I bought a few, I returned them all. After much exasperation (mainly, with returning the items), I decided to hit the shops.

And, boy did I hit the shops.  Between brunches and catch ups, the quest remained.  The plan to find the “not-so-hard” perfect denim shorts resulted in a difficult and tedious struggle.

Unfortunately, I leave this blog post open. Who knows if my summer will be filled with denim shorts, but no doubt I will keep you updated.

That is all from me and my soon-to-be denim shorts,

Love L xx.

  2. Heya! I realize this is somewhat off-topic however
I needed to ask. Does building a well-established blog like yours take a lot of work?
I am completely new to writing a blog but I do write
in my diary everyday. I’d like to start a blog so I can easily
share my own experience and feelings online. Please let
me know if you have any kind of recommendations or tips
for brand new aspiring bloggers. Appreciate it!

    • Hi! We started The Tea Club to have fun and that’s still what we’re doing. I would say it does take organisation, especially when you share the work load between two people. It’s more about consistency -updating frequently and being consistent- than anything overbearing or difficult. On the promotional side at least. The real effort and workload is in producing the posts themselves, and that will be completely dependent on what you want to put up! Hope that helps a bit 🙂 Best of luck
